Beam Pattern Matters More Than Most People Realize

Wiring Your Truck Light Bar the Right Way
A light bar draws real current, and running it off a cheap inline fuse or straight to the battery without a relay is asking for trouble. This protects your switch, your wiring, and your truck's electrical system. It is the right way to wire any light bar.
Most light bars in the mid to upper output range need a harness that can handle the amperage. Check the bar's rated draw and match your harness to it. Many power harnesses sold for light bars are already fused and come with a relay built in, which makes the install straightforward. How do I know what size light bar will fit my truck's bumper?

Then add the width of the mounting tabs for the bar you are considering, since tabs typically add a couple of inches to the total footprint. Leave a little clearance on each side so the bar does not contact the bumper under flex or vibration.
